Milan

In the north, Milan is the reigning empress of high fashion. A whole day can be spent window shopping at the Grand Galleria (please note, I say window shopping unless you are a millionaire, who is happy paying through his nose for an Armani or a Zegna). In winter, take a walk along the square, crunching hot chestnuts and admiring the fashion sense of the passer-bys, from children to grandparents. For the serious buyer, I’d strongly recommend skipping the Galleria and taking a bus to one of the outlets outside the city. There, you’d get a 20 – 30% discount and if you are from outside the EU, you’d also get a 15% rebate at the time of departure. Perfect opportunity to pick up the odd Canali jacket and a few Ferrogamo ties. Do come with enough suitcases, lest you be forced to buy some to pack your added belongings.
